How to install an interior cat door

  • Remove door from doorway by removing hinges or by pulling hinge pins.
  • Tip: Position a flat screw driver to catch top of pin and tap upward with hammer.
  • Begin with the bottom hinge and work upwards.
  • Be sure to support door so it does not fall and cause damage or injury.

  • Lay the door down on a sturdy work surface.
  • Double-Check that you're working on the bottom of the door
    • Locate the PAWSM Cat Door cut-out template on the back of the box and cut around dotted line.
    • Mark a centerline at the bottom of the door.
    • Place the template on the door and align it with the center mark on the door.
    • Use a pencil to trace the outer edge of the template.
    • Tip: If you tape the template onto the door, it's easier to draw an outline around the entrance hole.
    • Carefully, use a Jigsaw or similar cutting tool to cut out the opening.
    • Wipe away all dust once cut is complete.

    • Place piece that holds the brush face down onto the opening.
    • Tip: Peel off tape protectors to release adhesion of the double sided tape then press firmly against door for bond.

    • Flip door to the opposite side and overlay second piece so it directly overlaps the piece containing the brush.
    • Once again peel off tape protectors and firmly press to secure to door.
    • You are now ready to return your door back onto its hinges.

    • The PAWSM self grooming brush can collect a lot of hair.
    • In order to clean: pinch the brush from the base of the bristles and pull out.
    • To reinsert, simply clip back into place by working from left to right.
