PAWSM Cat Door FAQ

Question: Will it work on a hollow door?

Answer: Fits both hollow and solid doors greater than 1.25” thick " as per product specifications.

Question: How big is the opening? Approximately what size cat can fit through the cat door?

Answer: The internal dimensions of the opening are 6" high and 7" wide. Cats up to 20lbs can pass through quite comfortably.

Question: I have a door that’s 2” thick. would it fit? is the inside plastic attached to the front face at least?

Answer: The product fits any door of minimum 1.3 inches. There are two main elements, both are bonded to their respective face of the main door.

Question: What are the dimensions for the cut out, height and width?

Answer: The kit comes with a template to cut a half moon arch using a jigsaw. Cutout is 6.75” high by 8” wide.

Question: Can you use this on drywall between rooms instead of door?

Answer: Yes, however, each side of the paw would only be attached using the provided double stick tape on each wall. The snap closure designed into the paw is only good for about 1 inch thick doors. For more longevity, you could apply with liquid nails or paintable caulk instead of using the tape if I were to apply to drywall and close the gap created inside the wall between the two paws with wood or repurposed plastic (like a strip cut out of a milk jug) so as to prevent kitty from detouring inside the wall or pawing out any insulation

Question: Will this work with a pocket door?

Answer: That would depend on whether you have accounted for the increased thickness once you have fixed the cat door onto the sliding door and whether installing the cat door on the original door will still allow you to slide the door in and out without getting jammed. I would allow for 10mm additional thickness on either side of the pocket door.

Question: What tools are needed to install this?

Answer: A jigsaw and pen or marker to trace the shape onto the surface you’ll be cutting

Question: Can this be used without the brush?

Answer: Yes. The brush is removable.

Question: Will this work properly without the cleaning brush installed? Is this item made of plastic?

Answer: Yes. You can take out the brush and it works fine. Yes, it is plastic.

Question: Can I use the screw holes with the new one?

Answer: If desired you can install with screws. However the screw holes and bolts are not provided as it is not a necessity given the strength of the adhesive steps and if installed as per guide. If you scroll through some of the product review photos on this pages you will see examples of those who have indeed installed with screws.
